Some weddings are special because of the design. Some are special because of the people. And some weddings are both.
Angel + Kyle’s wedding at Christianson’s Nursery in Mount Vernon, Washington was one of those weddings.
Angel is the niece of our dear friend Jaimie, owner of Ridgewood Films, which made this celebration especially meaningful for us. We had the privilege of watching this day come together over many months, and from the beginning, Angel had a clear vision for how she wanted the wedding to feel: romantic, charming, collected, and deeply personal. Inspired by the world of Pride and Prejudice, we leaned into a vintage garden aesthetic that felt right at home among the nursery’s winding paths, blooming gardens, and historic buildings.
Using soft dusty purples, muted pinks, blues, greens, touches of butter yellow, and hints of peach, we created a colorstory that felt romantic, tender, and full of character. The goal was never perfection—it was personality.
And personality was everywhere.
Long before guests arrived, they were already getting a glimpse of what was to come. Rather than traditional save-the-dates, Angel collected vintage postcards and thoughtfully selected one for each guest or couple. The invitations were even more impressive. Angel and her family created them entirely by hand—from the letterpress printing to the addressing—pouring countless hours into this project, ensuring every piece was perfect. It was one of the most personal invitation suites we’ve ever seen.
When wedding day arrived, Christianson’s Nursery provided the perfect backdrop, as it does so often.
The ceremony took place behind the beloved schoolhouse, where the vines and gardens were already doing much of the heavy lifting. We kept the focus on the natural beauty of the space, arranging chairs in an amphitheater style and framing the aisle with two floral installations designed by Parcells Flower Co. Vintage chandeliers were tangled amongst the flowers, adding just the right amount of old-world charm.
Angel wore a gown adorned with floral appliqués that looked as though they had grown right from the fabric itself. Her bridesmaids embraced the collected, romantic aesthetic beautifully, wearing different colors, patterns, textures, and silhouettes that somehow all worked together perfectly.
As Angel + Kyle were pronounced husband and wife, guests showered them with petals, creating one of the sweetest moments of the day.
Cocktail hour took place outside, where guests mingled while enjoying handcrafted cocktails. The bar team mixed drinks to order, serving favorites like blood orange margaritas, French 75s, and strawberry lemon drops in vintage-inspired glassware and cut crystal. Delicate bistro tables gave guests space to gather and enjoy the atmosphere while taking in the beauty of the nursery grounds.
One of the most memorable moments of the evening happened during cocktail hour when Angel finally got to see the reception design for the first time.
She cried.
And honestly, so did we.
Angel had trusted us completely throughout the design process, especially with the tablescape. Seeing her emotional reaction as she took in all the details was one of those moments that reminds us exactly why we do what we do.
One of our favorite details from the day was the seating chart. Inspired by an art installation Angel had seen at a gallery, it became a true family project. Angel’s brother built it, Angel painted it, and Jaimie helped bring the final vision to life. Like so many details throughout the wedding, it told a story.
Dinner took place beneath the vines, with bistro lights twinkling overhead. We wanted every table to feel slightly different than the last, as though guests had stumbled upon a collection of heirlooms gathered over generations.
The head table featured wood tables layered with custom lace, while guests dined at round tables draped in beautiful lace linens. Mismatched china, vintage flatware, cut crystal goblets, antique-inspired napkins, and lace-wrapped menus created a look that felt both curated and effortless. Parcells Flower Co. did the day justice, designing whimsical arrangements in collected tea tins, silver vessels, and even European-style busts. Mixed throughout were charming little tchotchkes, ceramic vessels, and glowing votives that gave the entire space an intimate, collected feel.
The celebration continued well into the evening before ending with a bubble send-off that guests absolutely loved. There’s something undeniably magical about hundreds of bubbles floating through the air as newlyweds make their exit.
This wedding would not have been possible without an incredible team of vendors.
Christianson’s Nursery was an absolute dream to work with, providing not only a beautiful venue but also a helpful and easygoing team throughout the entire process. Parcells Flower Co. brought the garden-inspired vision to life with florals that felt collected, romantic, and completely unique. The catering team impressed everyone with both the quality of the food and their professionalism throughout the day.
A special shoutout also goes to the media team. Sarah Anne Thompson captured the day beautifully with the confidence and expertise of someone who truly knows her craft. Alongside her, John of Steelhead Cinema was calm, kind, and a joy to work with all day long. It felt especially fitting that both are longtime industry friends of Jaimie’s.
And finally, thank you to Jen Lagers, who kept everyone looking incredible while somehow staying ahead of schedule the entire day.
One unexpected highlight for us? Getting to celebrate with one of our past couples, Haley + Teddy, who were guests at the wedding. There’s something so special about seeing familiar faces and getting to watch our couples continue building community long after their own wedding day has passed.
Angel + Kyle’s wedding was romantic, personal, a little whimsical, and completely unforgettable—exactly the kind of day that feels like it could have been pulled straight from the pages of a beloved novel.
