Set just outside of Seattle, the most magical private estate exists. As you enter the grounds, you’re greeted by a beautiful marble fountain which was brought in from New York City in the 1920’s and weighs several thousand pounds.
Ripped from the pages of an old book and rich in history, it houses a room filled with art on the walls that was shipped as an entire room from Italy, with artwork that dates back to the 1700’s from France, most likely. The entire chateau has the most ornate and original detailing with poured concrete walls and floors, overlayed with limestone, a very unique construction style for private residences.
The moment we stepped onto this property we felt the grandness and our creativity was just brimming. Bringing this intentional time piece of an old world romance story to life was truly a creative dream.
We focused on creating mood with a lighter colorstory and darker shadows, bringing to life a romantic European style, pulling in many textures and layers to create depth and dimension. The details in the florals, paper goods, and textiles were painterly and colorfully muted with a palette of apricot, blush, mauve, soft buttery yellow, peach, and dusty blue with pops of chartreuse and oxblood. With a dusty rose tone letterpressed into blush handmade paper with deckled edges, this romantic and bespoke invitation suite was made complete with a sage green silk ribbon, layered vellum, and a vintage floral painting, and was tied with a cord rope. Finishing off the suite we used a soft green envelope with vintage floral envelope liner, calligraphy addressing, and a collection of vintage postage.
Beshir wore a black velvet suit jacket, a classic black pant, a bowtie, and velvet loafers. Lauren’s look was inspired by an air of timeless elegance and romance. Crafted from the lightest of fabrics, this gown drapes gracefully around her, creating a sensation of weightlessness. The sleeves seamlessly transition into a flowing cape, adding a touch of drama and romance. And keeping with a soft and sultry natural glam look, we wanted to bring attention to the eyes while keeping things classic. With a glow on the skin and a minimal yet bouncy curl, Lauren was a dream.
The courtyard provided the perfect backdrop for the ceremony. With florals lining the aisle, Lauren + Beshir made their way up to the altar, where they stood amongst lush florals spilling out of urns and pedestals.
With that old world dark romance style in mind, we carefully selected an incredible list of pieces from the wood table to the old and mismatched chairs to the vintage lace runner. We curated crystal glassware, handmade earthenware plates, vintage mother of pearl silverware, and a frayed, raw-edge napkin for every placesetting.
Florals were soft and delicate, but with a fullness. With dainty blooms like butterfly ranunculus, hellebore, lisianthus, sweet peas, and poppies, the arrangements had a whimsical touch about them.
The white with vanilla Bavarian cream filling and Italian meringue buttercream cake is entirely covered in bas relief, a technique that takes hours upon hours, and a skill set few possess. The elegant flowers that adorn it are handmade sugar flowers, constructed petal by petal. You’ll see a myriad of blooms, ranging from an heirloom rose, garden roses, clematis, butterfly ranunculus, and forget me nots, with ivy.
The allure the evening light provided was magical and mysterious as the couple posed for portraits against the mirrors with a candelabra in hand.
With a grand staircase, glass greenhouse, and ornate rooms for days we had no shortage of photo-worthy backdrops to shoot.
Through shadows we pulled a darkness into the images to make this artfully intentional. From the tones within the colorstory to the antique pieces to the textures and everything in between, not one stone was left unturned.
